General aim: welcome, support and protection for people who seek asylum and refugees (even for people sent by the Central Service of the national protection system). Specific target: offer welcome services in houses owned by the Municipality of Padua; offer services of social support and protection, aimed at integration, job and residential placement; make them aware about the network of local and national services; set up a coordination for the sharing of information and for optimizing the available resources.
The “Rondine” project involves different activities aimed to receive, inform and make independent people seeking asylum and refugees, who escape wars or situations that endanger their lives. These people do not have a migration plan: they are only escaping. At the moment of their arrival in Italy, these people undergoes a total upheaval in their lives, but this upheaval is not desired. For their lives, they must leave everything they have in their countries: their family, their job, their house, the social reality in which they have lived since the moment of their leaving.
Thus, at the moment of their arrival, it is essential to welcome and inform them about the procedures for asking for asylum or for humanitarian protection. Furthermore it is also important to think together a path which allow them to rebuild their lives and to reunite with their families. First steps are learning Italian and job and residential placement. It is also expected the possibility of a psycho-social-health support.
The project offers services of orientation for formation and professional retraining, also through the planning of apprenticeships, services for orientation and job placement, orientation in the independently housing search.
What has already been done ACS collaborated to this project, with 2 operators, performing a service of welcome, supporting and orientation for people who seek asylum and for refugees who live in the flats for adult men owned by the Municipality of Padua.
